Multiple development and distribution strategies were considered, recognizing that distribution is the weak part for most development firms in realizing a product. We decided to design and engineer the light, and partner with a dental product company for manufacturing and distribution. Our fulfillment process in place, we launched our proven discovery and implementation process.
Beginning with end user field observation and interviews, the Big Bang team identified a number of unmet needs. Utilizing our Idea Farming ideation method, several technology and product innovations were identified. Given the newness of the LED category, extensive R&D was essential in the areas of optics, heat management, patent review and electronics. The final functional design concept was validated with end-users and the distribution partner prior to production launch.
